MINERAL PROCESSING ENGINEER ⚒️

Ruiyu Ma is a graduate student in Mineral Process Engineering at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mineral Process Engineering, along with a double degree in Law. Throughout his academic career, Ruiyu has demonstrated exceptional performance, ranking 2nd in his master’s class and achieving a strong GPA. His passion for mineral extraction processes has driven his success in competitions like the ICAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

RESEARCH IN MINERAL EXTRACTION 🌍

Ruiyu’s primary research focuses on extracting valuable minerals using innovative methods. His study on manganese extraction from pyrolusite using ammonium sulfate roasting introduced a clean, efficient process. By developing manganese carbonate from the leaching solution, his research has opened new avenues for manganese oxide ore utilization. Ruiyu published these findings in a SCI paper, demonstrating his role as a leading researcher in the field.

INNOVATION IN OCEAN MINING 🌊

As part of an international marine resources research project, Ruiyu investigated the mineralogy of ocean manganese nodules. He developed a low-temperature ammonium sulfate roasting process to extract manganese, copper, cobalt, and nickel simultaneously. His work explored the transformation of iron and manganese oxides, contributing to advancements in ocean mining technologies and efficient resource utilization.

MICROORGANISM-BASED WATER TREATMENT 💧

Ruiyu led a team that explored the potential of deep-sea microorganisms in treating high-salinity heavy metal wastewater. His innovative approach developed a continuous, efficient treatment method at low temperatures, utilizing self-replacement of bacteria. His research contributes to solving environmental challenges through the sustainable application of biotechnology in wastewater management.

INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE 🏭

Ruiyu gained practical experience at Hebei Tangshan Sijiaying Iron Mine, where he followed the entire production process, from mining to flotation and tailings concentration. His hands-on work with mineral processing equipment and CAD for process flow diagrams helped him build expertise in operational parameters and industrial applications, complementing his academic achievements.

LEADERSHIP AND ASSOCIATION WORK 📊

Ruiyu demonstrated strong leadership as President of the Career Development Association at USTB. Under his leadership, the association grew significantly, gaining 20,000+ followers on the Beike Career platform. His efforts led to the application of key projects and recognition as one of the top ten student associations, influencing the career paths of students across the university.

SKILLS AND VOLUNTEER WORK 🌟

Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Ruiyu has developed skills in software such as AutoCAD, SEM-EDS, and XRD. He has also contributed to major national events, receiving awards for his volunteer work at the National Day Mass Parade and the CPC’s 100th Anniversary Conference. Ruiyu is also passionate about street dance, swimming, and badminton, balancing his technical skills with diverse interests.
