EDUCATION

Caihong Hu obtained her Bachelor’s degree in River Sediment and River Regulation Engineering from Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering in 1991. She pursued her Master’s degree in Hydrology and Water Resources at Wuhan University in 1998, under the supervision of Prof. Luo Wensheng. She completed her Ph.D. in Hydrology and Water Resources from Wuhan University in 2004, with her thesis focusing on analytical and comparative studies of hydrological models in the Yellow River Basin, supervised by Prof. Guo Shenglian.

EXPERIENCE

Caihong Hu began her academic career as an assistant lecturer at Taiyuan Normal University in 1991, where she worked until 2004. She then joined Zhengzhou University as a lecturer in 2004 and was later promoted to associate professor in 2005. Since 2011, she has been a full professor at Zhengzhou University, actively contributing to research and education in hydrology and water resources. She also gained international experience as a visiting scholar at the University of Hong Kong in 2012.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Her research focuses on hydrological modeling and forecasting in a changing environment, water resource exploitation and utilization, and the effects of climate change on runoff. She has led and participated in several national research projects, including studies on climate change’s impact on hydrological procedures, emergy analysis of water resources, and key technologies for flood forecasting in the Yellow River Basin.

AWARDS & HONORS

Caihong Hu has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Science and Technology Advancement Prize from Henan Province (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2022). She was also recognized in the middle and young teachers’ lecture competition at Zhengzhou University in 2009 and was honored as an advanced educator in 2010. Her contributions to hydrology and meteorology have been widely acknowledged by provincial and national institutions.
