Mr. Lutfar Rana | Building materials | Best Researcher Award

Asst.Prof. | Bangladesh Army International University of science and technology | Bangladesh

Mr. Lutfar Rana is a Bangladeshi civil and structural engineering academic whose work focuses on sustainable construction materials, structural behavior, and recycled aggregate technologies. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the Bangladesh Army International University of Science and Technology (BAIUST), having previously served as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Anwer Khan Modern University, and as Lecturer at both City University and the European University of Bangladesh. He is also Chair of the IQAC of the Civil Engineering Department at City University. He is pursuing a PhD in Structural Engineering at BUET, under the supervision of Prof. Syed Ishtiaq Ahmad, following an M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from MIST and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Asia Pacific, where he graduated 4th in his cohort. His research centers on the mechanical and durability performance of concrete incorporating recycled materials—particularly waste glass and recycled aggregates—with broader implications for circular construction and low-carbon infrastructure. Rana has authored and co-authored publications in reputable venues, including the Journal of Building Engineering (Elsevier, Q1, IF 6.7), the Malaysian Journal of Civil Engineering, and proceedings of international conferences. His recent article on recycled waste-glass concrete has contributed to growing global interest in alternative aggregates, while his forthcoming work in Construction & Building Materials (Q1, IF 7.2) and submissions to Journal of Cleaner Production (Q1, IF 9.2) reinforce his trajectory in high-impact research. Collectively, his publications have received 45 citations, reflecting a steadily expanding academic footprint. He has collaborated with researchers from MIST, BUET, and several industry-oriented research groups, and remains actively involved in structural modeling, experimental concrete technology, and performance-based design. His professional memberships include the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). Beyond research, he has organized academic seminars, supervised undergraduate projects, and contributed to curriculum development aimed at strengthening engineering education in Bangladesh.
