This set the stage for advanced studies, leading to an M.Tech in Energy Systems Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and culminating in a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

With over 15 years of industrial research and development (R&D) experience, Somnath Sengupta has made significant contributions to various engineering organizations. His professional journey includes stints at renowned companies such as CMC Ltd., Ericsson (Sweden), EATON Electricals (USA), MKSI (USA), Shweeb Monorail (New Zealand), General Motors (R&D), ARAI (R&D), and KPIT Technologies Ltd.
