Mohamed G. B. Atia initiated his academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Assiut University, Egypt, where he achieved First Class equivalence (86.44%) in 2016. His graduation project, "Intelligent Assistive Limb Robot," laid the foundation for his interest in robotics and intelligent systems.

PROFESSIONAL ENDEAVORS:

Embarking on a multifaceted professional journey, Atia has accumulated valuable experience across various roles. Notable positions include his current role as a Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham in the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Manufacturing and On-Wing Technology since November 2022. Prior to this, he served as a PhD Researcher in the same center from October 2019 to October 2022. His contributions extend to roles such as a Research Assistant at Assiut University, a Teaching Assistant at multiple institutions in Egypt, and a Maintenance Engineer at High Fitness Company.

CONTRIBUTIONS AND RESEARCH FOCUS:

Atia's doctoral pursuit in Manufacturing Engineering at Rolls-Royce UTC, University of Nottingham, from 2019 to 2023, is highlighted by his thesis on "Reconfigurable Soft Robots by Building Blocks." Under the supervision of Dr. Abdelkhalick Mohammad, Dr. Andres Gameros, and Prof. Dragos Axinte, his research has delved into innovative concepts, analytical modeling, and control systems for modular soft robots.

IMPACT AND INFLUENCE:

Atia's impact is evident in his involvement in the REINSTATE project, a UKRI funded initiative with Rolls-Royce plc. Here, he contributes to the development of control methods for robots in additive manufacturing, the creation of soft crawling mobile robots, and the design of soft robotic tools for non-destructive testing, showcasing practical applications of his research.

ACADEMIC CITES:

His contributions to the field are reflected in publications, including articles in journals such as Advanced Science and IEEE Access, as well as presentations at conferences. The work on "Reconfigurable Soft Robots by Building Blocks" has been particularly influential.

LEGACY AND FUTURE CONTRIBUTIONS:

Atia's leadership and mentoring roles, supervising PhD, Master, and undergraduate students, exemplify his commitment to knowledge transfer. His awards, including a PhD scholarship from Rolls-Royce plc and the University of Nottingham, attest to his academic excellence and research contributions. The community projects he has led underline a commitment to societal impact.

GLOBAL TALENT VISA ELIGIBILITY:

Atia is eligible to work full-time under the Global Talent Visa between Feb. 2023 – Feb. 2028 without sponsorship, underscoring his recognition and standing in the field.
