Dr. I. Arul Aram is a distinguished scholar and media academic recognized for his extensive contributions to communication, journalism, and environmental studies. His research integrates media, science, and sustainability, focusing on environmental communication, climate change awareness, science communication, and peace journalism. As a former Professor and Head of the Department of Media Sciences at Anna University, he played a vital role in advancing interdisciplinary studies in media and environmental science. His leadership extended to initiatives such as directing the Educational Multimedia Research Centre and Anna Community Radio, which received national recognition for effective communication practices. Dr. Aram’s prolific academic record includes over 130 journal papers, 40 book chapters, and five authored books that explore the intersections of communication, technology, and social transformation. His research projects, funded by international and national bodies including UNESCO, UNICEF, UGC, DST, ISRO, and UKIERI, emphasize technology-mediated outreach, sustainable development, and community engagement. Through his works, he has significantly contributed to the understanding of media’s role in shaping environmental discourse, promoting peace, and fostering inclusive communication strategies. His mentorship has guided numerous doctoral researchers, and his contributions to international conferences and scholarly networks have strengthened the global visibility of Indian media research. His editorial leadership in journals such as the Journal of Media and Communication Studies further highlights his academic impact. Dr. Arul Aram’s scholarly excellence and global collaborations continue to inspire advancements in communication for sustainability and peace. His research has been widely acknowledged in academic circles and cited across domains, with 612 total citations, 410 since 2020, an h-index of 11, and an i10-index of 14.
