EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Tallal Abdel Karim Bouzir earned his Doctorate in Architecture from the University of Biskra in 2018, focusing on architecture, environment, and heritage. He previously obtained a Master in Architecture from the same university in 2014, specializing in architecture and environment in arid and semi-arid zones, where he was the valedictorian. He completed his Bachelor in Architecture at the University of Biskra in 2012, following his Baccalaureate in Experimental Sciences in 2009. In 2021, he received his Habilitation to direct research from the University of Blida, specializing in architecture.
CAREER DETAILS
Since December 2021, Bouzir has been an Associate Professor (Maître de conférences MCA) at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism, Saad Dahlab University, Blida, Algeria. From October 2019 to December 2021, he served as an Associate Professor (Maître de conférences MCB) at the same institute. He began his tenure at the Institute as an Assistant Professor (Maître-assistant MAB) from October 2018 to October 2019. Previously, he was a part-time professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Biskra University, Algeria, from September 2014 to 2018.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Bouzir's research interests include urban morphology, noise pollution, and the interplay between architectural forms and environmental factors. He has been an active member of the research laboratory LACOMOFA at Biskra University, which focuses on the design and modeling of architectural and urban shapes and ambiances, from September 2014 to 2018. Currently, he is a member of the research laboratory ETAP at Blida University, specializing in the environment and technology for architecture and cultural heritage.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
As an Associate Professor, Bouzir has taught various courses including Technical Building Equipment, History of Architecture, and Studio Project courses at both bachelor and master levels. He has also guided master’s students through their end-of-studies dissertations and has taught courses on prevention against major urban risks and indoor thermal comfort in environmental engineering programs.
ACADEMIC HONORS AND AWARDS
Bouzir graduated with honors during his doctorate and was the valedictorian of his master's program. His academic journey has been marked by his dedication to integrating architectural practices with environmental sustainability and heritage conservation.
ORGANIZATION OF SCIENTIFIC EVENTS
Bouzir has been instrumental in organizing several scientific events. He founded and chaired the QUALITY OF ARCHITECTURAL AND URBAN ATMOSPHERES: THEORIES AND APPLICATION Conference (QAUA-1) in October 2023. He participated in organizing the national workshop “l’habiter : temporalité et durabilité” in February 2023 and the Built Environment in Oasis Milieu workshop in February 2020. Additionally, he contributed to the International Workshop on Architectural and Urban Investigation Tools and Methods (AUTM 1st) in May 2022.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES
Bouzir serves on the editorial boards of the Environmental Protection Research Journal and the International Academy of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Management: ICCAE Conference. He is a member of the scientific committees for several conferences, including the Built Environment in Oasis Milieu (BEO’2019), QUALITY OF ARCHITECTURAL AND URBAN ATMOSPHERES: THEORIES AND APPLICATION (QAUA-1), Patrimoine bâti et développement durable (PBDD1 2023), and the Conference on Creativity, Technology, and Sustainability (CCTS 2024) at Dar El Hikma University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
