AMIR DETHO. ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Dr. Amir Detho holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Environmental Engineering from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). His doctoral research focused on the innovative treatment of landfill leachate using composite adsorbents. Prior to his Ph.D., he completed his Master of Engineering in Energy and Environment Engineering at Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering Science & Technology, Pakistan, where he studied safety issues on the Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, exploring the design of an electric wheelchair and conducting a mini-project on Sterling Engine fabrication.

CAREER PATH

Currently serving as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment at UTHM, Dr. Detho also holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Quaid-e-Awam University, Nawabshah, Pakistan. He has contributed significantly as a Lecturer and Lab Engineer at the same university, focusing on environmental engineering and sustainable technologies. His industrial experience includes roles as an Environmental Officer at Advanced Waste Recovery and Air Studies (AWRAS) in Malaysia and as an Assistant Engineer at Habib Sugar Mills Ltd in Pakistan.

Dr. Detho's research interests span a wide range of environmental topics, including landfill leachate treatment, sustainable building materials, waste recycling, and solid waste management. He is particularly passionate about developing alternative, low-cost natural adsorbents and sustainable green technology materials. His academic journey is complemented by a keen interest in air and noise pollution control, as well as water and wastewater treatment technologies.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Detho has been recognized for his scholarly achievements with prestigious scholarships and awards. He received an Inland Scholarship from Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering Science & Technology for his doctoral studies and a stipend during his undergraduate studies under the National Bank of Pakistan's student loan scheme.

TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Detho has taught a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in environmental engineering, including Solid Waste Management, Water Supply and Treatment Engineering, and Environmental Laws & Policies. He actively engages in laboratory work focusing on water and environmental analysis, contributing to the practical education of future environmental engineers.
